Located: San Jose is Northern California's largest city, known as the heart of the Silicon Valley.

History: Founded in 1777, San Jose is California's oldest civilian settlement and was the first state capital, from 1849-1851.

Population: There are approximately1 million residents, making San Jose the third largest city in the state.

Tech Hub: As the unofficial capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose is home to companies like Cisco, Adobe, PayPal, Zoom, and eBay. Meta is located in nearby Menlo Park, Google in Mountain View, and Apple in Cupertino. 

Diversity: San Jose is among the most ethnically diverse cities in the nation.

Weather: It's sunny most of the year here! With pleasant weather year-round, our Mediterranean climate boasts summers that are warm and dry, and mild winters.

Airport: San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is ranked in the top 10 global airports and #1 in state for on-time performance. Given its centrality to major companies, SJC is a noted business travel hub.

University: San Jose State University, home of the Spartans, was founded in 1857. It is the oldest public university in California. It's a top feeder school to Silicon Valley tech companies and has about 35,000 students enrolled.

Sports Teams: San Jose is home to the NHL hockey team San Jose Sharks.

Nature: The beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains are accessible by a short drive, with world-famous beaches about 45 minutes to 1 hour away. San Jose is surrounded by many hills and parks, great for biking, running, and hiking.
